BCT measures the compressive strength of a regular slotted container (RSC). It indicates the box’s ability to withstand compression hazards, and how the box will contain and protect its contents during storage and shipment (palletizing, stacking, storage time, and climatic condition combined). It means the maximum load a box can handle throughout the distribution cycle, not as stacking strength alone.
During testing, the test specimen is compressed in vertical direction at a constant rate between two rigid platens until a peak load is established.
